Kente
Kente is more than just a cloth. It is a quintessential visual rendition of the Ghanaian culture, social values, philosophy…Ghanaian identity. Kente is a handwoven, complex piece of craft, which celebrates the aesthetic of juxtaposing elements and speaks the language of colors.
Originally, it was woven only for Royalty and even now, it is reserved for use on formal and sacred occasions. Woven patterns in Kente cloth have names and meanings, as does each cloth in its entirety.
The names are inspired by the rich Ghanaian heritage and folklore.
